QDance Center debuts, holds opening cocktail.

Dancers and dance enthusiasts in Lagos converged at 194, Herbert Macauley way, Adekunle, Yaba, to celebrate and launch the opening of QDance Center, recently.

The QDance Center is a new initiative of ykprojects, a Paris and Lagosbased organisation which has established its footprints globally within the creative industry.

The event was graced by the veteran filmmaker, Mr. Tunde Kelani.


The atmosphere was lightened with comedy by the M.C. Pelumi, an upcoming Yoruba rapper caught the attention of the audience as his performance earned him endless round of applause.

Talented dancers also heightened the fun, alongside other artistes.

The organisers of QDance Center, Qudus Onikeku and Hajarat Alli-Onikeku, came up on stage and introduced what QDance was all about, the concepts and also appreciated other hands that contributed to ensure that the dream ‘QDance Center’ becomes a reality.


According to Qudus, the aim of QDance Center is to be an independent non-profit organisation, offering full time engagements to young dancers, providing certified training that meet international standards, and leverage on existing partnerships with the global dance community.

His words: “The QDance Center is a platform set up by the dance-lovers couples; to establish dance lovers, or for those also tagged as ‘dance dropout’; those who like to dance but are not going into it as a full time career, but just for something of pleasure.”


The audition into the Centre commences on August 19, 2014.

The QDance Center also resumes Academic session on the 1st of September, 2014, time: 7am – 8am every week days, and evening session by 7pm – 8pm every week days.
